Condolence & Memory Journal

He was my cousin and my friend. We were close friends the past 5 years and I'm very thankful for that. He was a wonderful, caring, and encouraging guy. He was my Friday night phone friend. We kept each other company. RIP Wes.

We were so sorry to hear that Wes has passed away. My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Wes Gilstrap for many years. I have many good memories of Wes from church, work and other activities. His smile and warm personality were always there to welcome all who knew him. He was a remarkable source of wisdom and common sense. He looked out for others and could always be counted on to help when a need arrived. Wes was grounded in a strong Christian faith along with his very mid-western values and it showed in his kindness and consideration for others. There is so much good I could say about Wes as those who knew him will understand. Our lives were made better because of knowing him. His kind and gentile spirit was a light in a sometimes dark world. He was a one of a kind in many ways. Wes will certainly live on in our memories and our hearts and we hope to see him again. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gilstrap family and friends. May God's blessing and grace be upon you Wes. You certainly were a blessing to us and you will be greatly missed.

2 Corinthians 5:5-8
Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
