Andrew Louis Zamberlin, 97, of Palm Desert, CA peacefully passed away November 26, 2017 in Rancho Mirage, CA. He was born September 20, 1920 to Andrija and Luisa (Pakusich) Zamberlin in San Pedro, CA, and was a resident of San Pedro for 90 years. Andrew served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division, as a Sergeant in Asiatic Pacific Campaign 1944 – 1946 (WWII). He married Margaret Karuza on October 29, 1947 at Mary Star of the Sea Church, San Pedro, CA. His work as a seaman included commercial fisherman, merchant marine, and tankerman. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Dalmation-American Club. His favorite pastimes were baseball and home gardening. Andrew loved his family and is survived by his daughters: Joanna (Robert) Newhouse, Vickie (John) Cracchiolo; granddaughters: Megan (Teddy) Chadwick, Christin Cracchiolo and Melissa (Joey) Durso. He is preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Bulich; brothers: Sam Zamberlin, Vince Zamberlin; and Margaret (Karuza) Zamberlin, his wife of 60 years. Visitation will be 10:30am with a Rosary at 11:00am and Funeral Mass at 11:15am, all held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, San Pedro with burial at 12:45pm at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. The family suggests that donations may be made to DalmationAmerican Club of San Pedro, Inc. – Scholarship Fund. FitzHenry-Wiefels Palm Desert has been entrusted with arrangements.
