The Lord gently passed and lifted the beautiful life and precious soul of Toni Cervantes on Sunday morning, April 3, 2016 at the family ranch in Coachella. Toni passed peacefully with her loved ones at her side. She was born Antonia Rivera Carrasco on September 24, 1920 in El Paso, Texas, just two days old the family journeyed to the Coachella Valley arriving on the tenth day, the family made its final journey. Antonia attended Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, and grew up working in the seasonal vegetable and fruit harvest, throughout the greater County of Riverside. Through hard work the family was able to purchase a small ranch to call home where she lived for the remainder years of her life. She survived the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II. Antonia's three (3) brothers, Joe, Samuel and David Carrasco were drafted and fought in the front lines of WWII. She joined the war effort and dedicated time at the USO Women's Club in the city of Coachella. Every night, for almost five years, Antonia and her mother would pray at the family's home alter for a safe return of her brother's from war. In 1945, the family's prayers were answered, all three of her brothers and husband returned safely from war. Antonia Carrasco married Gregorio Cervantes on April 7, 1943 and raised eight children. Together, along with her brothers and husband, they helped build the family ranch and cared for its daily upkeep and yearly harvest of fruits & vegetables, she also loved attending to her animal livestock and exotic Avery.
Antonia loved playing Bingo with family, friends, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She instilled in us love, honesty, respect, loyalty, responsibility, integrity, compassion, and strength. Antonia leaves a wonderful legacy of love. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Antonia was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Gregorio Cervantes and her children Clara (9), Angie (34) and Rosalie (56).
