Benjamin R. Beal passed away peacefully at home in Indio, Ca. on March 5, 2016 at the age of 96. He departed this world for heaven to join his wife Ethel who passed in 2012. Ben was born in Greene, Iowa on November 13, 1919 to Ralph and Nettie Beal. In August 1942 he was drafted in the Army and served three years. He trained at Camp Young near Chiriaco Summit, Ca. and served throughout Europe during WWII. Ben returned to the Coachella Valley and was hired by Herschel Gee to manage a 20 acre date, grape and citrus ranch (now Desert Horizons Country Club). When the ranch was sold Ben joined the Coachella Valley Water District in 1964, retiring in 1982. Ben is survived by his children: Linda (Alan), Carole (Barry) and Ken (Janette); grandchildren: Ben (Lia), Margaux (Bryan), Patrick (Jennifer), Arianna, Julii, Calley and Matthew: Great-Grandchilden: Tristin, Garrett, Trenton, Brynn, Cohen, Payton, Selah, Ian, Dylan, Sarah and Jack; sister-in-law Daisy Gray. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ben's life will be held at the North Shore Beach & Yacht Club at the Salton Sea on Saturday, March 26th. at 2:00 p.m.
