Irene Marie Rembis, 95, of Palm Desert, California died November 19th, 2015 in Van Nuys, California of natural causes. She was born June 22, 1920 to William Matthews and Ida Le Claire in Everett, Massachusetts. Irene married Anthony Rembis on June 8th, 1941 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. After being married they moved to San Pedro, California in 1952, purchased their first home in Torrance, California in 1953 and retired to Palm Desert, California in 1989. She was an electrical technician for McDonald Douglas and Boeing during the Korean War and a Sales Executive for Bullock's Department Store until 1987. Irene actively participated in the community with her family. She was the President Auxiliary of the South Bay Little League, President of the Torrance Ladies of the Elks, Chairwomen of the Torrance Ladies Elk's Golf Club and the Fashion Coordinator of the South Bay Region of the Bullock's Department Store. Irene volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy Society and the Nativity Church in Torrance, along with being a member of the Oasis County Club. She is survived by her son Michael Anthony Rembis, his wife Kristine Rembis, grandchildren Michael Grant, Kathryn and Jacquelyn and the Stark family. Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Anthony "Tony" Frank Rembis, her sisters and parents. Prayer service will be at 11:30am on November 25th, 2015 at Sacred Heart, Palm Desert, California. Memorial services will be immediately following at Oasis Country Club, Palm Desert, California. Instead of arrangements the family suggests that donations be made to the McCallum Theatre, Palm Desert, California.
