Jim Conway of Palm Desert died unexpectedly on September 8, 2015. He was born in Baltimore to James and Helen Conway on June 7, 1939.
A graduate of Franklin University, he was twice elected Mayor of Bowie, MD and was selected as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1967.
In 1976 he founded and was the CEO of the Electronics Association of California in Silicon Valley. He was also a founder and Executive Director of the Small Business Technology Coalition now headquartered in Washington DC.
Jim has served as President and Treasurer of the ACT for Multiple Sclerosis in Palm Desert and also served as President of the Rancho Mirage Rotary Club.
Sports were a very large part of his life, especially football and basketball, first as a player and later as an avid spectator.
A true renaissance man - entrepreneur, politician, community leader, visionary, and champion for MS research - his boundless positivity and endless curiosity kept him going for so many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Elaine; and his children: Michael (Laura), Sharon (Dan) and Kevin (Noemi) and 7 grandchildren, all of San Jose; his sisters Mary Jane Heath (Arthur), Jeanne Fling and Patsy Conway all of MD, and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing is at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Palm Desert.
