Joseph Andrew Williams, 92, of Palm Desert, California, died July 10, 2017. Born August 17, 1924, to Martin Williams and Clara Matern Williams, in Chicago, Illinois. Both parents are deceased.
Joe graduated 1941 from St Patrick's Academy, Catholic High School on Adams Street in Chicago.
Joe married Alice Regnier on February 17, 1948, in Chicago. Alice and Joe moved with their family to Palm Desert, California in 1962 and became members of Sacred Heart Parish. Alice preceded him in death in 2010 after 62 years of marriage.
Joe was retired as a Central Office Supervisor from General Telephone Company having worked there from 1962 – 1985 (23 years) and Illinois Bell Telephone 1946 – 1962 (16 years),
Joe served in the U.S. Army Air Force from March, 1942 until April, 1946. A veteran of WWII, he served 7 months of his duty in Orleans, France and Frankfurt, Germany. He was assigned as a Troop Carrier Radar Mechanic and maintained Army/Navy Signal Corps radar and radio equipment on fighter planes.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Williams and Donna Williams of Palm Desert, CA., and his son, Gregory Williams (Kelli) of Lacey, Washington.
Grandchildren, Jason Patrick Williams and Ryan Joseph Williams (Kelsey) of Palm Desert, CA, Gina Young, Robert Williams (Ashley Barton), and Christian Williams all of Lacey, Washington.who he loved with all his heart; He is also survived by Beverly Hibbert and Sommerlynn Ullrich, mothers of 3 of his great grandchildren; Brittany and Kylie Williams of State College, Pennsylvania; Riley and Ronan Young of Lacey, Washington, Timothy and Vladimir Stange, Cheyenne Vance and Tyler Courtright of Palm Desert, CA.his beloved sisters, Patricia Delany (Robert), Katherine Moran (James), and Jeanette Doyle (Larry) all from Chicago, Illinois and 61 nieces and nephews who he loved dearly; His nephew, John Richards, Indian Wells, held a special place in his heart.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Leona Walsh (James) from Denver, Colorado and Sr. M. Clarice, R.S.M. (Dorothy Williams), Helen Harrison (Paul), Theresa Mueller (Robert), and by his brothers, Harry Williams and John Williams (Caroline), all from Chicago, Illinois.
Special family friends who provided love and support in his last days include Mission Home Health and Hospice, Sommerlynn Ullrich, Sonia Martinez Aguilar, Sylvia, Ashley, Crystal and Melissa Aguilar of Indio, CA.
A memorial mass will be offered for Joseph Williams on his 94th birthday, August 17, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palm Desert, California. Assistance to the family was provided by Fitzhenry -Wiefels Funeral Home, Palm Desert, CA. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois at a future date.
