Lester James Larson passed away at his home in La Quinta, California on the early morning of May 29, 2015 at the age of 83.
Lester was an optimist with a tireless work ethic. He deeply loved his family and was devout in his beliefs. He was a provider, a patriot and a source of curious spontaneity.
Lester is predeceased by his father Ivar J. Larson, his mother Elizabeth B. Highbe and his daughter Cynthia M. Larson.
Lester is survived by his loving wife Shirley Larson of 61 years. They were married in Aberdeen, South Dakota on August 8, 1953.

He graduated from Dupree High School and went on to earn a bachelor of science in education from Northern State, South Dakota in 1953. Soon after his graduation, Lester began his teaching career in Faith, South Dakota, but was quickly drafted. He served as a private in the U.S. Army. Upon returning from military duty in Germany, he worked as a inspirational teacher for Coachella Valley High School. Lester also worked as a mathematics professor at the College of the Desert.
He positively affected numerous lives and it was difficult to go anywhere without someone recognizing Mr. Larson.
Lester is lovingly remembered by his sister Alma Beeuswaert; his children: David Larson, Deborah Myll, Suzanne Yaru, Sheryl O'Donnell and James Larson; his grandchildren: Hank Myll, Erin Yaru, Mathew Larson, James Yaru, Nicole Larson, Jennifer Larson, Kelli Larson, David Hudson, Kristina Hudson, Lauren Yaru, Michelle Hudson, Ashley Larson, Tyler Larson, Lucas Larson, Andrew Larson; and his great grandson Bronson Myll.
