Mable C. Simonson of Indio passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, from natural causes. She was born on a farm near Parker, S.D. on May 19, 1916. Mable was the seventh of nine children born to William A. and Grace Baker Parry. She was a graduated in Canistota, S.D. She met Conrad R. (Connie) Simonson in 1937 and were married on June 29, 1938. They became parents to son Boyd and Daughter Cynthia. She is preceded in death by Connie in 1989, her parents, siblings, one grandson and one great granddaughter. She was a beautician and operated a beauty shop from her home in Dupree, S.D. until her family moved to Custer, S.D. and there she opened the Charm Beauty Shop. She learned bookkeeping through home study and she then worked as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1981. In 1963 Mable and Connie moved to Indio. Mable enjoyed traveling, bowling, bridge (and other card games), dancing, reading, crossword puzzles and was very skilled at needlework. She was a member of the Shepard of the Valley UMC since 1963. Her two cats Cricket and Peanuts were continuous companions. Survivors included her son Boyd Simonson of El Cajon, Ca. and Daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Parks of Indio, grandsons Jeff Parks and Joel Parks of Indio, granddaughters Robyn Horne of Pageland, S.C. Shannon Varley of La Mesa, Ca. and Cheryl Gaskin of Fayetteville, N.C. Ten great grandchildren and seven great- great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life is planned for Mable's 100th. year birthday.
