Marion Jess Leon, 66, of Indio, California passed away on April 15, 2017. He was born on March 26, 1951 in Lodi, California to Jesus and Cecilia Leon. He graduated from Reedley High School and attended the University of Santa Clara. In the winter of 1975, Marion traveled to the Coachella Valley and met the love of his life, Caroline C. Cervantes. They married on December 18, 1976 and began a family.
Marion is survived by his wife, Caroline: son, Jesus (Kristen) Leon; daughter, Clara (Joshua) Rocha; grandchildren: Paxton Moore, Luca and Sofia Leon, Jackson Rocha; mother, Cecilia Leon; sisters, Dolores Leon, Margarita (Steve) Holtzclaw, Raquel (Daniel) Silva, Teresa (Charles) Cacciatore, and Elia Leon. He was preceded in death by his father Jesus V. Leon.
Marion had a 36-year career with Southern California Edison as a Field Service Representative. He had a deep passion for music and enjoyed playing his collection of guitars. He was an admirer of nature and spent time hiking, fishing and camping in his earlier years. He volunteered with various local organizations and charities, and enjoyed participating in community events. As an avid reader of an array of genres, Marion also dedicated his time to early childhood and elementary school children to support reading programs. He was a devoted, loving husband and father; always considerate of others. He lived his life, choosing to enjoy every minute and being thankful for all of his blessings.
Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Church o April 27, 2017. The viewing begins at 9:30am, followed by a rosary prayer with services to start at 11:00am. Sacred Heart Church is located at 43775 Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, California.
