Ovidio Garcia moved to the Coachella Valley in the early sixties. He worked at R.A. Glass for man years as a forklift operator helping transport much of the citrus out of the desert. Grande was a true gentle giant, compassionate, considerate, and a very giving man. Always up to date with (and argue) politics, current events and baseball. And boy did he love his Dodgers! And let's not forget his appetite. Our dad passed away peacefully on January 23rd. in Palm Desert, Ca. He was born in Los Aldamas, Monterrey Mexico to Antonio & Clemencia Garcia in February of 1927. He is survived by Josepha, sons: Amalio, Nereo, Pale (Lupita) Sergio, Juan and Art all of Indio. Daughter: Sylvia Smith (George) of North Dakota, sister Irma Pena from Roma, Texas 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild (still in the oven). He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Aurelio Garcia, sister Isabel Trevino and longtime friend and companion Mercy Ortiz from Indio. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. Rosary at 11:30 with a 12:00 p.m. Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Indio, Ca. on February 1, 2016. Interment will follow at the Coachella Valley Cemetery.
