Rosie Alvarez Benavides age 83 of Thousand Palms, passed away peacefully August 31, 2016 in Palm Desert, with loved ones at her side.
She was born on March 18, 1933, in Indio to Ramon and Maria Benavides of New Mexico and was a Coachella Valley resident all her life, attended East Valley elementary schools, playing summer league Bobby Sox softball. Early in her adult years she worked as a field foreman at various ranches. Later she was a housekeeper at Indian Wells Hotel, then went on to work 24 years at Eisenhower Medical Center as a Central Service Senior Technician and retired in 1995 to care for her mother. While at Eisenhower, she trained, inspired and was loved by the employees she encountered. She was admired and respected by co-workers and physicians alike. Following her mother's passing, she worked 10 years as a caregiver for Inland Agency and Addus Healthcare. She always loved working with the elderly, disabled and those that needed compassionate, attentive care.
Rosie was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and Sociedad Protectora Femenil and enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques.
Rosie is survived by her sons: Ernest Preciado (Donna) of Yucca Valley, Roderick Thompson (Lisa Chamberlain) of New Hampshire. She also leaves grandsons Jon Paul and Mychael Preciado,; great-grandson Aidyn Arsenault; granddaughters Jennifer Thompson, Jessica Knight (Matt); brother Raymond Benavides (Linda); sisters Jennie Nava, Carmen Flores, Vera Boatwright and a longtime friend Judy Woods.
Rosie is preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Maria, brother Pete and Sidney Benavides; sisters Martha Sanchez, Marguerite Lewis and grandson Robert Sanchez, Jr. and niece Mary Lou Sanchez.
Rosie was an extraordinary kind and spiritual woman, cherished by her family and friends.

Services for Rosie will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Indio. Rosary will be said at 10am
with Mass to follow at 10:30am.. Interment will follow at The Coachella Valley Cemetery.
