Their spirits are the perfect union of true love. There is a Cherokee proverb “When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.” Bob, it was always a pleasure to be with you, and we mourn your physical absence, but are grateful for the spirit you gave us.

I cherish his memory, his kindness, his professional knowledge, his wit, his profound love and knowledge of literature, especially to help people under all circumstances. He was the kindest person I have ever met in the library profession. He hired me in 1971 for FPL. (Fullerton Public Library). After the construction of the new library he left the Fullerton where we all missed him very much for many, many years. I have retired from Fullerton after 39 years of service

Bob and I had a Manhattan, KS connection, too. I lived and worked there for a year in the 60s (and loved it) and was delighted to learn about Bob's father's importance to KSU. Tom, I never really got to know you, but the last time I spoke to Bob you were living in Kapalua and had a cable TV issue he thought I might help you with. Darn, I couldn't help with that and darn I didn't get to spend time with both of you in the last few years. May your love live on and on and on.

Mr. Conover or Bob, as he would insist I call him was always a pleasure to talk to. I don't think there was ever a time I didn't laugh during a conversation. He left such an impression on me while working at the Commerce Library through his classy style, always reminding us to treat everyone as a VIP. He was a true VIP!

I will always remember Bob Conover as a wonderful colleague. He was so kind and encouraging to me in my career as a librarian. My deepest sympathy to Tom Lutgen and his other family members.
