Robert "Bob" W. Conover died Saturday, January 28, 2012, in Rancho Mirage, CA, at the age of 74. Born on October 6, 1937 in Manhattan, KS, he was the son of Robert W. Conover, Sr. and Darline G. Grinstead.
Bob graduated from Manhattan (KS) High School. He earned a Bachelor's degree at Kansas State University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He received a Masters degree in Library Science at the University of Denver.
He began his professional library career at Fresno County Public Library and was Library Director at Yolo County Public Library where he oversaw the construction of the Davis Public Library, Fullerton Public Library where a new main library was funded and constructed during his tenure, Pasadena Public Library and Palos Verdes Library District. Bob ended his career as Library Director at the City of Commerce (CA) Public Library.
Bob will be remembered and cherished by his many friends for his quick wit and generous heart. We celebrate his life and legacy, but mourn his passing. He leaves Tom Lutgen, his loving and devoted partner and spouse of 43 years of Palm Springs, his sister Elizabeth Taggart of Wichita, KS, his nephew David Taggart and his wife Bea of Miami, and his sister-in-law Patricia Lutgen of Riverside.

Funeral, Friday, Feb. 3rd, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 125 W. El Alameda, Palm Springs. Reception immediately following.
